computed_name shows exactly which letters were counted, so your users can see why they got their number.

Names from the real world

• Accents: “María” counts as “maria”. With "transliteration": "latin", letters such as ø, ł, ß and æ are rewritten into A–Z first instead of being ignored.
• Compound surnames: send “García López” whole in last_name.
• Middle names: optional. Omit middle_name or send null.
• The letter Y: a consonant by default. Send "y_rule": "vowel" to count it as a vowel. Is Y a vowel in numerology? compares the rules.
• Whole name or per name: the default sums the whole name at once. "name_reduction": "per_name" reduces each name first, as the Decoz method does.

Options go in an options object, and every response echoes the conventions it used, so a stored chart always says how it was made.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the destiny number and the expression number?

They are two names for the same number: the sum of every letter in the full birth name. The API returns it as destiny_number.

Which name should I send for numerology?

The full name at birth, as most numerologists use it. A married or chosen name can be sent in a second request to compare the two.

Does the name numerology API support non-English names?

Yes. Accented Latin letters are read as their base letter, and the latin transliteration option rewrites letters such as ø, ł and ß. Names in other scripts need to be romanized before they are sent.

Are names stored?

No. Names and birthdates are used to compute the response and are never stored or logged.
