MCP & AI agents

A numerology MCP server for AI assistants

Language models are bad at arithmetic and worse at numerology conventions. Give your assistant tools that compute the chart, and let the model do what it is good at, which is explaining it.

Why an assistant needs a tool for this

Ask a chatbot for a life path number and it will often answer confidently and wrongly: it sums the digits in the wrong order, drops a master number, or counts Y differently from one message to the next. A tool call gives it the same answer the API gives every other client, along with the conventions that produced it, so the explanation matches the maths.

The tools

Tool What it does
get_numerology_chart A full Pythagorean chart, as readable text or as JSON
get_personal_cycles Personal year, month and day for a date
get_compatibility The compatibility score for two people
get_account_status The plan and the quota left. Uses no quota
numerology://conventions A resource with the calculation conventions, so the model can explain why a number is what it is

Errors reach the model as instructions, not bare status codes. A 402 tells it to point the user at pricing, and a 429 tells it how many seconds to wait.

Set it up in Claude Desktop

The server is a small Python script, mcp_server.py, that calls the HTTP API with your key. Add it to claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "numerology": {
      "command": "python",
      "args": ["/abs/path/to/mcp_server.py"],
      "env": {"NUMEROLOGY_API_KEY": "nk_live_…"}
    }
  }
}

Then ask: “What is the life path number of someone born on 12 March 1990, and what are their pinnacles?” The assistant calls get_numerology_chart and answers from the result.

Any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol works the same way. For an agent framework without MCP, describe the endpoints as tools straight from the OpenAPI spec.

Same API, same limits

The MCP server is a client of the public API, not a copy of the engine. Every tool call goes through your key, so the free plan’s 100 requests a month apply, and paid plans raise them. The MCP section of the docs has the details.

Frequently asked questions

What is a numerology MCP server?

It is a Model Context Protocol server that gives AI assistants such as Claude tools to compute numerology charts, personal cycles and compatibility, instead of calculating them in the model.

Does the MCP server work with the free plan?

Yes. It uses your API key, so each tool call counts against your plan’s quota, including the free plan’s 100 requests a month. Checking the account status uses no quota.

Can I use it with assistants other than Claude?

Yes. Any client that supports the Model Context Protocol can run it. Frameworks without MCP can call the same endpoints as tools generated from the OpenAPI spec.

Does the assistant see my API key?

No. The key is passed to the server as an environment variable and sent only to the numerology API. The model sees the tools and their results.
