How the Personal Year is calculated

  1. Reduce your birth month to one digit (November, 11, becomes 1 + 1 = 2).
  2. Reduce your birth day to one digit (the 29th becomes 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2).
  3. Reduce the current year to one digit, the Universal Year (2026 is 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1).
  4. Add the three and reduce to one digit.

The Personal Month adds the current month to the Personal Year, and the Personal Day adds today’s date to the Personal Month. All three are reduced to one digit, 1 to 9: cycle numbers are counted, so master numbers are not kept.

The year runs from 1 January in this calculator, the most common convention. Some numerologists start the personal year on your birthday instead.

Frequently asked questions

When does a Personal Year start?

In this calculator, on 1 January, the most common convention. A minority of numerologists count from your birthday, so between 1 January and your birthday the two methods give different numbers.

Why are master numbers not kept in the Personal Year?

Cycle numbers count where you are in a sequence of nine, so they are reduced all the way to one digit. Master numbers are kept in the numbers that describe you, such as the Life Path.

Can I get the Personal Year for a future year?

Not in this calculator, which uses today’s date. The Personal Year API takes any date and returns the years ahead.
