How the Birthday number is calculated
Take the day of the month you were born and reduce it by adding its digits, unless it is a master number:
- The 1st to the 9th keep their own number.
- The 10th is 1, the 12th is 3, the 28th is 1 (2 + 8 = 10, then 1 + 0).
- The 11th and 22nd stay 11 and 22, master numbers.
- The 29th adds up to 11 and stays 11.
The month and year play no part. That is what makes the Birthday number different from the Life Path, which uses the whole date.
What it describes
Numerology reads the Birthday number as a specific gift: a skill or a way of working that comes naturally and supports the larger direction of your Life Path. Two people with the same Life Path but different Birthday numbers walk the same road with different tools.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Birthday number the same as the Life Path number?
No. The Birthday number uses only the day of the month; the Life Path uses the day, the month and the year.
Is a birthday on the 11th, 22nd or 29th special?
In numerology, yes: those days give the master numbers 11 and 22, which are kept rather than reduced to 2 and 4.
Does the Birthday number count in compatibility?
Yes, a little. The compatibility calculator gives the Birthday pair 5% of the score.
